(Davenport, IA) -- A group representing Iowa media outlets is allowed to intervene in a court case over a Freedom of Information request.

A judge says the Iowa Freedom of Information Council has standing in a case over whether a letter sent to the city of Davenport last Fall by then administrator Corri Spiegel, has to be released under Iowa's Open Records law, or if it's considered a confidential personnel record.

The letter, accusing former 7th Ward alderman Derek Cornette and others of harassment, led to a 1.6-million dollar separation agreement with Spiegel that's now the subject of a state investigation.
