Adult film actress Stormy Daniels testified in the criminal trial against former President Donald Trump on Tuesday (May 7), detailing her alleged one-night stand with Trump in 2006 and the subsequent hush money payment. Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, claimed that she was offered $130,000 by Trump's former attorney Michael Cohen to keep silent about the encounter.
Daniels testified that she was not paid on the agreed date of October 14, 2016, and was given various excuses for the delay.
"It wasn't a financial delay, so it made me more concerned that something bad was going to happen. And if wasn't done before the election, it was never going to happen," Daniels said.
The payment and Daniels' account form the basis of the case against Trump, who is facing 34 counts of falsifying business records related to the repayment of Cohen. Trump has pleaded not guilty and denied the affair.
Daniels also described a side letter agreement that used pseudonyms for her and Trump. She confirmed that she signed her real name, Stephanie Clifford, under the line for 'Peggy Peterson,' the pseudonym used for her in the agreement.
Daniels also testified in detail about her alleged affair. She said she met Trump at a golf tournament in Lake Tahoe in 2006. She had planned to get dinner with Trump, but the two ended up staying in his hotel room.
When she arrived at his suite, Trump greeted her wearing satin pajamas.
"Does Mr. Hefner know you stole his pajamas?" Daniels recalled asking Trump before telling him to get changed.
He obliged, and the two spent the night talking before things turned sexual. After Stormy went to the bathroom, she found Trump sitting on the bed wearing just a t-shirt and boxers.
"At first, I was just startled, like a jump scare. I wasn't expecting someone to be there."
"The next thing I know, I was on the bed, somehow on the opposite side of the bed from where we had been standing. I had my clothes and my shoes off," Stormy said.
After the two had sex, Trump told her: "Oh, it was great. Let's get together again, honeybunch."
"I just left as fast as I could," she said.
The next day, Stormy met Trump in the lobby of the hotel and he introduced her to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, calling her "my little friend Stormy."
The two remained in touch as Trump called her several times a week.
"He would call on average once a week, sometimes two to three times a week, sometimes not for three weeks," she said.
Stormy said she was hoping Trump could get her a spot on Celebrity Apprentice. Once she realized that wouldn't happen, she stopped taking his phone calls.
